Fear gripped residents of Oyo State after a deadly confrontation erupted between security operatives and suspected kidnappers in the Oke-Ogun axis of the state. The intense gun battle reportedly ended with the death of three suspected kidnappers and the successful rescue of an abducted victim.

According to reports, the operation was launched after local hunters alerted authorities about suspicious armed men terrorizing communities in the area. A joint security team made up of police officers, local hunters, and other operatives quickly moved into action to track down the criminal gang.

On getting to the hideout of the suspects in Otu community, the security team reportedly came under heavy gunfire, leading to a fierce exchange of bullets. After several minutes of intense shooting, the operatives overpowered the kidnappers, killing three of them during the operation.

The rescued victim, identified as Mosudi Gbolagade, was allegedly abducted from Okaka community before being rescued during the raid. Reports say the victim sustained injuries during the crossfire and is currently receiving treatment at a medical facility.

One of the local hunters involved in the operation was also injured while assisting security forces during the mission.

Security operatives recovered weapons from the suspects, including an AK-47 rifle, a locally made gun, and dangerous weapons believed to have been used for kidnapping operations in the area.

Residents have praised the bravery of the security personnel and local hunters whose swift response helped prevent further attacks and possible loss of lives.

Kidnapping has remained a growing security challenge across several parts of Nigeria, with many communities calling for stronger security presence and improved intelligence gathering to tackle criminal activities.

Authorities in Oyo State have assured residents that operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals will continue as efforts intensify to restore peace and safety across the state.
